Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is also a common cause of the nightmare over and over again.
However, not at all nightmares happened by things that are traumatic. Cause of daily stress, such as pressure on the work environment, such as life-changing financial problems or fired from their jobs, can also cause nightmares.

What we eat can have an effect on events when we sleep. That can also lead to a nightmare. There is little research published in International Journal of Psychophysiology classifying healthy men, and eating spicy foods before they went to sleep one night, and then compared the quality of sleep at night when they eat food that is not spicy.
At night when they eat spicy foods, the study participants took longer to wake up, and produce a poorer quality of dreams. Explanation is spicy foods can raise body temperature and this is disturbing to sleep. This is probably also the reason why people often have nightmares when they sleep near the time they finished eating. Meal before bed can increase your metabolism and brain activity, and causing nightmares.

3. Fat content in foods
Some studies indicate that the more fatty foods consumed that day, the more likely to suffer during sleep. There is little research in the year 2007, about the psychological report which found that dream of peoples who eat organic food, unlike people who eat junk food. Researchers believe that some foods can negatively affect the dream.

4. Alcohol
Although alcohol can help to sleep in the short term, once the effect is gone, can make the drinker awake prematurely. Excessive consumption can also cause nightmares and sleep quality.

5. Drugs
Some drugs, including antidepressants drugs, barbiturates, and narcotics, can cause nightmares and side effects. as for example in the year 2008 there was research in the journal Psychopharmacology take the example of ketamine, the use of ketamine can produce unwanted dream, is not expected and increase nightmares. Nightmares usually end once the drug effect was clean from the body.
